Sip-and-see

Sip-and-see parties are basically casual, open-house baby showers held after the child is born. Typically a Sip and See Baby Shower is held a month or two after the baby is born to allow the parents time to adjust and to allow the organizer of the Sip and See Baby Shower time to organize the event and send out invitations.

Sip and sees make it possible for a lot of people to meet the baby all at once in  a comfortable timeframe for mom and dad.

Sip-and-see

A "Sip and See" is a celebration that honors the newborn child and his or her family. This tradition has roots in the south but its popularity is spreading. Since the event is considered a "Sip and See" and not a baby shower, men seem more comfortable attending. The term "Sip and See" describes exactly what happens at the event, guests sip on drinks and look at the baby. This event is normally held a month or so after the baby is born and is normally hosted by a friend or relative. A "Sip and See" is an open house celebration where guests come and go as they please between given hours. There are normally no games played and gifts are not expected as they are for a baby shower.

If you would like to host a "Sip and See" here is a basic list of what you will need:

Invitations- incorporate the "Sip and See" invite with the birth announcement

Beverages- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic

Light Finger Foods- small wraps, cheese balls, crackers, fruit and vegetable trays

Minimal Decorations- a bouquet of flowers is all you need

Antibacterial Gel- the baby is likely to be passed around by many adoring fans, so don't be afraid to ask guests to use the gel or wash their hands first

Guest Favors- small bottled beverages of choice (water or wine) wrapped with a custom label.
