Rajnikanth was born as Shivajirao Gaekwad in a Maratha family in Karnataka in 1949. He did his schooling at the Acharya Pathshala in Bangalore and then at the Vivekananda Balak Sangh, a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission.
Before starting his career in the film industry, he worked as a bus conductor for the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation. He has fought acute poverty to keep his acting dream alive.
The journey to success is never easy.
What makes him great is his rags to riches story in one hand and his acting which touched many hearts, in the other.
He was reportedly paid Rs. 26 crores (about $6.25 million USD) for his last blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss. This demonstrates his stature as a mega star.
He has won many awards and worked with many mega stars. What makes a star a real mega star is the love and recognition of his people.
He has earned it by his dedication to his work and especially to his people. His decision to stop celebrating this birthday for the cause of Lankan Tamils is a mere indication of his love for his people.
Happy Birth day Rajni!
