Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao Fight

Shane Mosley                 Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao and  Sugar Shane Mosley fight is set on  May 7 in Las Vegas.

The deal will be finalized after Mosley's lawyers approve the final paperwork for the WBO welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The 32-year-old Pacquiao had a pair of dominant wins in 2010, beating Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito, with both fights at Cowboys Stadium,  Texas.

The 39-year-old Mosley went 0-1-1 in 2010, losing a wide decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May.  The other fight  wound  up with a controversial draw against Sergio Mora, where  neither of the fighters   looked good throughout the twelve rounds.

Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) and Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs)  are at very different points in their respective  careers right now. However,  Pacquiao  is on top of the boxing world after trouncing Antonio Margarito in a one-sided decision in Texas on Nov. 13.  The 32-year-old Filipino congressman has won 13 straight fights while claiming world titles in an astonishing eight weight classes, most recently taking the WBC 154-pound belt with his win over Margarito.

Promoter Bob Arum says that Pacquiao chose the bout because Mosley is the most accomplished and famous boxer in the field of candidates including  Juan Manuel Marquez and welterweight champion Andre Berto.

It could be difficult to sell  a fight against an almost  40-year-old opponent who will be nearly 2 1/2 years away  from his last victory, but people know  Mosley's skill and speed will challenge Pacquiao. It can be a fight between skill and speed vs fitness and energy.
